FAQ - Questions before the exam

We recommend conducting a trial exam in advance. This will allow you and your students to familiarize yourselves with EvaExam. In addition, you can test how the e-exam process works and how it is evaluated. There are no additional costs for this.

The best way is to conduct a trial exam with your students. We have also set up a test exam that simulates an exam with EvaExam—however, it does not follow the procedure of a regular exam, as the TAN entry and health questionnaire are omitted (they are included in our example as screenshots). The test exam is available in a German and an English version. Feel free to share the link with your students.

Yes.
While creating an exam sheet, you can view the PDF or online preview via the “Preview” tab.
If you have already generated exam sheets, you can access and view them in the detailed view of the exam. For e-exams, you also have the option “Online Preview” under “Actions.”

You can set it so that participants automatically receive a participant report after completing the exam. This opens automatically as a PDF in the browser after the exam papers have been submitted. This means that the evaluation and announcement of the results takes place automatically, provided you have stored the solutions for all questions. Therefore, do NOT check this box if it is an exam situation.

You can find out how to create your own template in the questions about exam creation. When you create a template, you will find these options in the Home tab. There are three confirmation fields that you can fill in. When students join the exam, they will first be taken to the start page. Here, they must first confirm the options you have entered in the confirmation fields with a check mark before they can start the exam. If you leave the fields blank, no check mark will appear on the start page.

We recommend using the participant import function, which we describe in our video tutorial starting at minute 8:20. Import the .csv files from MyStudy. MyStudy provides two versions of the participant list: the file “Exam list for grade entry” and the file “Export for import into EvaExam.” The latter is formatted with the columns as required by EvaExam.

You can then send the students their individual TANs using the “Send TANs to respondents by email” function.

Please note: Clicking “Send” does not send the emails. After clicking the button, a pop-up window will open containing the message to be sent. The TANs will only be sent when you click on “Send emails”. If no window opens, please check whether your browser settings are blocking pop-up windows.

The default text for the email only contains the personal TAN, which is inserted individually by the system for the placeholder [SHORT_PSWD]. If you want to take a remote exam and include the link to the exam, you must customize the message and insert the placeholders for the information you need. An overview of this can be found in the Manual for Examiners on p. 185.

The link can be found in myStudy once you have selected the module exam. If the link does not appear, you have probably only selected the course, but not the corresponding exam. To do this, click on the corresponding link in myStudy. Once you have opened the exam page, you will find a table that also contains the link for exporting.

There are several options available for scheduling e-exams. Each option has its advantages and disadvantages and can be combined with others in different ways. A more detailed explanation of the options and their advantages and disadvantages can be found in our Terminations Tutorial.
